FAQs

Our Experience:

Nick and Charla Shaffer are certified grief educators in peer-to-peer grief support through David Kessler.  They have over 20 years’ experience leading grief support groups.  Their best credential is that they have experienced grief firsthand.  Nick has a Master of Divinity with over 30 years’ experience as a pastor.  They have experience in emotionally healthy spirituality and relationships.  They have both been trained by Prepare/Enrich to offer premarital and marital counseling.  Charla has studied and practiced, along with her husband, gentle parenting techniques for nearly 25 years.

What We Do Not Offer:

We do not offer therapy or licensed counseling. We will refer to a licensed counselor those we feel need deeper help than we can offer. While we do offer a sliding scale, we cannot offer our services for free unless we have a scholarship available or in the event of extreme financial hardship circumstances. Unfortunately, neither Irresistible Hope nor Nick and Charla as its representatives, have any funds for financial assistance or help of any kind to pay for bills, rent, or give rides, etc.

Our Policies for Peer-to-Peer Services:

Please be on time for your scheduled appointments.

The first consultation of a peer-to-peer appointment is free.

The arranged payment is due at the beginning of each service appointment. We accept PayPal, cash, or check.

·Suggested donations for peer-to-peer appointments are $20 for half an hour, $30 for one hour, and $40 for one hour with both Nick and Charla.  Appointments can be weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, bi-monthly, and continue for the period of time agreed upon by the client and Irresistible Hope. You may also schedule a one-time appointment.

Peer-to-peer appointments are available in person or by Zoom.

Please kindly give 24 hours’ notice if you must cancel your appointment.  You will be charged a $10 fee if you miss the cancellation window or don’t show up.

We regret that there may be a waiting list as we have limited availability for appointments.

If your needs are deeper than we can provide, we will refer you to a licensed counselor.

We will abide by confidentiality.  However, we will need to report to the proper authorities any abuse, self-harm, or potential harm to others.

Our Policies for Workshops, Classes and Lament Services:

We will arrange all the set-up and needs with your point person before the event.

We will arrange a fair fee with you beforehand that will consider the number of attendees, mileage, etc.  Fee must be paid at time of service.  We accept PayPal, cash, or check.  A free will offering will suffice for a lament service.

Please kindly give us at least a week’s notice if you must cancel.

These can be arranged in person or by Zoom except the Lament Worship Services.

Should we set up our own classes in our own venue, we will charge a fair, advertised fee per attendee that is due at registration by PayPal, cash, or check.
