Jesus
I was visiting with a friend of mine earlier this week about her boy being in pain from an injury. We talked about how as moms in a heartbeat we would take the pain in our children's place because we hate to see them suffer. I see all of you moms today and I know this is your heart, a heart of sacrifice and love for your children. You see, on that fateful day of January 15, if I had been given a choice, I would have taken Hope's place in that awful car accident, no question. In that way, I would have given her life again at the expense of mine. I have good news for you! There is One whose love is so great that he did just that for you and for me and for Hope and for all of our children. He took our pain on himself, he suffered on our behalf, he died in our place to give us life. His name is Jesus. I hope today, sweet friends, you will remember that Jesus has a heart toward you that is just as (or probably more) tender toward you than our most tenderest hearts could ever be on a given day toward our precious children. I don't know about you, but I definitely need that reminder, especially when pain threatens to overwhelm my heart.
